Hi all, I was wondering if anyone has encountered the following:

Line side T1's going to two different PBX's for headsets have a constant buzzing/static noise. This is interrupted by any messages playing from the LPVC and when the agent is connected to a call.

Checked and saw that all ports on landside T1's are configured to listen to 4c0 "silent" while idle. Increasing the amplitude of the line (for example for different cable lengths) also increases the amplitude of the noise.

Has anyone seen anything similar? I can offer a recording of the sound for anyone who asks. Doesn't seem to be a way to attach it to this bb post.

Thanks for your help

Vance,

1. What are your T1s? PRI or NON PRI?
2. What is the impedance of your cards ?
3. What is the impedance of your T1 lines from your ISP?
4. What connectors you are using in your digital switch backplane ? BNC / MDF / DB 15 / RJ45 ?

I believe your issue is your connectivity ...

Thanks for the reply. I do believe the issue was connectivity. For full disclosure, the landside t1's were connected to a voip switch. upgrading to a better quality voip quad t1 cleared the issue.

RF choke your lines. make sure your cables are shielded type cables. take your downtime to clean off any ethernet pins and connections as they get dirty after a few years use, and make sure you run them in EM shielding.
