Looking for work in Beaverton? Stream Global Services might have something for you.
The customer service call center, which serves high-tech clientele, announced Thursday that it would be immediately hiring 500 new workers at its offices at 3601 S.W. Murray Blvd.
Why does the company need such a large number of people? According to a press release from the Wellesley, Mass., based business, it’s because it recently signed on a new client: an unnamed “high-profile” electronic gaming business.
“We are extremely excited to be bringing on this new, well-known consumer gaming brand to the Beaverton roster of clients,” said Stream Chairman and CEO Scott Murray. “The company has recently selected Stream's Beaverton site to support their customer service and technical support needs, and we intend to do all that we can to expeditiously accommodate their needs and build a world-class support team.”
Stream currently employs about 500 people at its Beaverton offices, which opened in 1993, and employs about 30,000 workers worldwide. Most of the new jobs are entry-level, call-center support personnel, but are full-time with benefits, according to the company’s career site. The company is also hiring managers and human resources workers.
“With local unemployment exceeding the 10 percent mark, we are confident that the local community will embrace and welcome this news,” said Human Resources executive Darla Bond. “In addition, we believe this is a fantastic opportunity for local job seekers. Not only are our initial hiring targets aggressive, but we are offering exciting short-term career growth opportunities for those showing the potential for higher-level tech support. All advanced support teams will be hired 100 percent internally, providing career advancement opportunities as soon as ninety days after training.”
