Utility companies, like NYSEG, will need to have a hearing with the Public Service Commission before closing a call center if a law passes in the state legislature.
A bill co-sponsored by Assembly-woman Donna Lupardo has already been passed in the Assembly, however similar legislation is pending in the state Senate.
The bill would require prior notification and a hearing for utility companies proposing to relocate a call center out of the state.
