Wichita Falls City Council members are set to discuss this week a resolution that could result in an economic incentive agreement with a call center that could bring a substantial number of living-wage jobs to the city, City Manager Darron Leiker said.
The agenda for Tuesday’s meeting includes an item concerning a $3.675 million agreement related to a WDSGlobal Call Center project.
The issue, which is slated for executive session discussion, also includes the resolution for vote by the council. The resolution would call for approval and amendment to the budget of the Wichita Falls Economic Development Corp. for this project.
The council will also turn its attention to more items related to Castaway Cove, which the city officially owns as of Feb. 4.
The first item is a resolution that would create a professional services agreement between the city and California-based Amusement Aquatic Management Group, which plans to continue in its role as the management company for the water park.
AMG and city representatives have identified some maintenance and capital items the water park needs. Another resolution on Tuesday’s agenda would allow for an application to the 4B board for some capital repair needs that total $325,000. The city expects park operations revenues to pay for future capital repair and maintenance projects, but because this is the park’s first year under city ownership, those funds do not yet exist.
Some of the projects might take place before Castaway Cove’s expected mid-May opening, and others might wait until after it closes for the next season, which will likely be in mid-September. Some of the work is necessary; other pieces would enhance park operation, representatives believe. A list details projects that include work ranging from repairs to pool drains to comply with federal law to pool and slide improvements to landscaping.
