AT&T Call Center, Fla. --Investigators may release surveillance video from the scene of deadly murder-suicide at an Orange County office park. A man shot and killed a woman and then took his own life outside an AT&T call center in the Central Florida Research Park, near the University of Central Florida early Monday afternoon.
Security cameras are installed on top of the AT&T building and Orange County detectives want to see if they show what happened in the moments leading up to the shooting. Also Tuesday, investigators may release the names of the two people involved.
A security guard was on patrol in the AT&T call center parking lot Monday night and Orange County homicide detectives took an SUV into evidence, along with several bullet casings that were scattered across the parking lot.
Investigators hope to figure out what caused a man to shoot a woman multiple times in the parking lot on Monday around 1:00pm before turning the gun on himself and taking his own life.
"We could actually hear the gunshots," call center employee Azuree Gibbs said. "We're used to the construction over here, so we thought it was the construction going on."
Right now, investigators will only say the woman was married and that the man who shot her was not her husband. Those who work with the victim say her husband does work for the company and, as far as they know, the man who shot her was an ex-boyfriend.
"There were already things going on, as far as a possible restraining order against him. Again, this is all hearsay," Gibbs said.
But that does not put many people at ease. There are more than 100 companies in the research park and nearly 10,000 employees were all put in potential danger.
"It's frightening, very frightening," Research Park employee Nadine Dexter said.
On Tuesday, Eyewitness News will work closely with investigators to find out what kind of gun was used, how many bullets were fired, and will show the surveillance video if detectives decide to release any of the footage.
