The 2009 AVAYA PDS User Group Conference has come and gone and this year provided a good mix of the future direction of the dialer as well as many “how-to” sessions. Some highlights were… • Plantronics displayed their latest in a vast array of headsets and gave away a number of their new wireless sets. • Chuck Neumann, SR Product Manager, AVAYA, made his debut and explained his role and direction with the PDS. We welcome Chuck and wish him the best of luck! • John Wolf received this year's Gold Service Award with Ray Chan, Joe Suggs and Bob Sackett-Converse all coming in a close 2nd. John had received numerous nominations for going above and beyond for his work on upgrades. Congratulations! • ClearTran received this year's Vendor of the Year Award. Kevin Fahey, 1st VP Managing Director, accepted the award on behalf of ClearTran. Both ClearTran and Kevin have been long time supporters of the User Group. At this year's meeting, they pushed forward ongoing education of NACHA regulations and helped reduce expenses to the group by sponsoring name badges and lanyards. Congratulations and thank you! • NACR was our newest user group site sponsor and was well represented by Tom O’Dwyer and Rick Novak. Welcome aboard! ** Congratulations to this years call center idol Stephen Vieau of SWBC ** A drive for new vendors was announced along with an incentive. A user that refers a new vendor that ultimately attends next years’ conference will receive their choice of a new laptop or a digital SLR camera. The vendor cannot have been present at the past 3 conferences or be a competitor of AVAYA. To participate, simply call the registration office with the name of the vendor that will be registering or have the vendor give your name at time of registration. Tuesday night’s outing was loud, fast and exciting! We boarded the buses and were taken to Pole Position, an indoor gas-powered Nascar go-cart track. It was all about your best time, but the competition was ON! For those not so daring, we had a great strolling magician and very well-studied astrologer, as well as a few virtual and hands-on games. There always has to be winners and so, losers, but a great time was enjoyed by all. The burning question of who the better driver is in the Hochhaus family has finally been answered! This year's charity drive benefits Autism Speaks. Nine hundred seventy six dollars ($976) was raised from direct donations, 50/50 raffle, vendor auction and credit card settlement service by MUG Enterprise. Auction items included an amazing surround sound system donated by Plantronics, two bottles of scotch by SynTelate Corporation and “interesting” T-shirts donated by committee member Tammy Givens. We would like to thank all those that participated in the drive and now is your chance to support this worth-while cause.
